Lex11Plus is a vocabulary game for children aged 7 to 11. We keep as little as we can, we never show adverts, and we never sell anyone’s information or use it for advertising. A few trusted companies help us run the game (they’re listed under “Who helps us”), and they may use it only to do that job. This page explains exactly what we keep and why.

For children 🦉

  • ✓ You never need an email or a password. Only a grown-up has an account.
  • ✓ We keep your hero, your name for the game and how you’re getting on, so you can carry on next time.
  • ✓ Nobody else can see your progress except your grown-up. There’s no chat and no leaderboard.
  • ✓ There are no adverts. A few helpers keep the game running, but nobody uses what you do to sell you things.
  • ✓ If you’re not sure about something, ask your grown-up.

Who we are

Lex11Plus is run by Saranya Chinnaswamy Kesavamurthy, a sole trader in England, who is the “controller” of the information described here. You can reach us at hello@lex11plus.co.uk.

What we keep

About the child (never an email, password, photo, voice or location):

  • the first name or nickname the hero is called by (we suggest a nickname), and how the hero looks
  • their progress: which words they’ve met, stars, coins, points, review dates and Island Challenges
  • a daily log for the grown-ups page: minutes played, questions answered and how many were right
  • any word they tell us looks wrong (the “report” button), so we can fix it

About the grown-up, if you make an account: your email address, your name if you give it, and your sign-in details. When card payments open, a record of your purchase (the amount, the date and the payment reference). Stripe handles the card itself; we never see your card number.

Without an account, progress stays in your browser on this device (its “local storage”) and never reaches us. Clearing the browser’s data for this site removes it.

Words read aloud use your device’s own voice. Nothing is recorded, and we never use the microphone.

Why we keep it (our lawful basis)

  • To provide the game you asked for (contract): saving progress to your account, showing it on the grown-ups page, and opening the islands you’ve paid for.
  • To keep Lex11Plus working and safe (legitimate interests): fixing errors and crashes, preventing misuse, and counting visits and finished sets in total so we know what helps. These counts are cookie-free and never identify a person.
  • To follow the law (legal obligation): keeping purchase records for tax.

We don’t use children’s information for marketing, profiling or advertising, and nothing is decided about anyone automatically.

Built for children (the Children’s Code)

  • Everything is set to the most private option by default, and there’s nothing to switch on to share more.
  • No adverts, chat, friends lists, leaderboards or links to social media.
  • No location tracking and no tracking across other websites.
  • Prices and payments only appear on grown-up pages, behind a grown-up check, and never in the middle of a game.
  • Streaks and rewards encourage a few minutes a day, not long sessions, and they’re never used to get children to share information.

Cookies and storage

We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, so there’s no cookie banner. When a grown-up signs in, our sign-in service (Clerk) sets the cookies it needs to keep you signed in; these are strictly necessary. The game stores progress in your browser’s local storage, and a note that the grown-up sum has been answered (for half an hour, or until the tab is closed). Our visitor counts (Vercel Web Analytics) use no cookies.

Who helps us

These companies handle information for us, only to run Lex11Plus, under contracts that protect it:

  • Vercel: hosts the website and counts visits without cookies.
  • Clerk: grown-up accounts and signing in.
  • Supabase: the database that keeps saved progress, stored in London.
  • Stripe: card payments, once they open.

Some of them are based in the United States. Where information leaves the UK, it’s protected by the UK’s data bridge with the US or by the UK’s approved contract clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Saved progress and your account: until you delete them, or ask us to.
  • Purchase records: six years in our payment records at Stripe, because the tax rules say so, even if you delete your account.
  • Error reports and server logs: a few weeks.

To delete your account and all of your child’s progress, sign in and use “Delete your data” at the bottom of the grown-ups page. It happens straight away. The same place clears the progress kept in a device’s browser. If you can’t sign in, email hello@lex11plus.co.uk from the address you signed up with and we’ll do it within 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we keep, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it, to object, or to have a copy to take elsewhere. A parent or carer can do this for their child. Email hello@lex11plus.co.uk and we’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes

If we change what we keep or why, we’ll update this page and its date, and tell account holders by email about anything important. See also our terms.
